The Swedish actor plays Eric Northman in vampire drama True Blood, a role he loves. The Hollywood hunk has been voted the sexiest man in Sweden several times, with his blonde hair and brooding looks winning him legions of female fans. Alexander tries not to pay too much attention to the hype though, as he doesn’t want to let it affect how he behaves.
“I am happy about it the success of True Blood, but I don’t let it impress me too much. I don’t read articles in magazines or on the internet about me. That’s pure self-protection,” he explained. “I don’t want to change some day because I kept reading about how gorgeous I am everywhere.”
Alexander isn’t surprised by how popular True Blood has been, explaining he thinks people will always be drawn to tales of vampires. The mythical creatures live forever; something the star thinks appeals to people.
The 34-year-old added he loves the way his character has altered during the show, especially as it’s changed the way fans react to him. “In the first season I am this really vicious creep who nobody really likes. But in the second season it becomes clear that there are real feelings slumbering inside me,” he told the German edition of OK! magazine. “I have absolutely no idea what will happen next.”
