Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård was born August 25, 1976, in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a Swedish actor and director.
Alexander made his debut in Allan Edwall’s award winning drama Ake och hans varld in 1983. He worked frequently as a child actor during the 80’s and became a huge teenage star when he played “Jojo” in Rumle Hammerich’s Hunden som log in 1989.
Not comfortable with being a celebrity at such an early age, Alexander decided to quit acting. During almost eight years, he turned down every offer he received. Instead, he studied Political Science, did his Military service in the Marines and intended to study at a school of architecture in Stockholm. However, in 1997, his longing for acting grew too strong, and he enrolled at Marymount Theatre School in New York City.
When he returned to Sweden after two years in New York, it didn’t take him long to land his first role as a grown up (in Christina Olofssons Happy End 1999). Since then, he has done over fifteen movies in Scandinavia and is today one of Sweden’s most loved stage and screen actors.
The interest for Alexander Skarsgård outside of Scandinavia has grown rapidly over the last few years, and he has recently signed with the agency Endeavor in Los Angeles and New York and with Markham & Froggatt, Britain’s most acclaimed agency, to represent him in Europe. He can already be seen in international movies such as Zoolander, The Last Drop, and Revelations.
In 2007, he played one of the main characters in the American miniseries Generation Kill.
As of 2008, he has been a part of the ensemble cast of HBO’s True Blood. Skarsgård plays the role of Eric, a 1,000 year old Viking vampire, and owner of “Fangtasia” – the fictional vampire bar in Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse Vampire Series. As of October 2008, True Blood has been picked up for a second season.
He has been voted the sexiest man in Sweden five times.

I really think you portray Eric exactly as he is in the books. You don’t just have his looks (in my humble opinion I think Charlaine Harris thought of you when she wrote Eric) but you have the right attitude and “joie de vivre” as him. I don’t know if you read the books but that is a thing Bill said to Sookie. I hope HBO keeps the show going for as long as the books go. I’ve also read a lot of fan fiction based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries and if you go there you will be surprised of how many people adore the relationship between Eric and Sookie. I think he is a good actor, would love to see more movies with him. Or series.
Also think he was the best actor in True Blood, very well played apart that he looked some kind of emotionless in some strong parts of the series but as whole the best acter in TB crew. I’d like to say that hes nice looking aswel.

Alexander is very nice to look at, but thats not all he has to offer. I read the entire series of books, and he plays the part eric just like it is written.. I must say when they cast the series they get an A++++, everyone does such a great job.. Great Actors every single one of them, and they all look great!! Im so jealous.. lol
